ABOUT ME
Jump, and the net will appear. -- Anonymous
I wrote my first poem when I was in second grade and my first article in high school when I was an intern at Prognosis, an English-language newspaper in Prague, Czech Republic. Although my ambition was always to be a writer, after attending Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, I did what I was told was the “sensible thing” to do and went into public relations and marketing.
After several years I knew I couldn’t put off my writing dreams so easily. I quit the job, bought a computer and ventured out on my own as a freelance writer.
Today, my expertise is in writing well-researched feature articles. I have an inherent curiosity that allows me to write about diverse subject matter, and a respect for deadlines and the busy lives of others that helps me build lasting business relationships.
My features have covered everything from plastic surgery to organic farming but my specialties include writing about:
Interior Design/Architecture
Lifestyle
In addition to writing for magazines and newspapers I also utilize my marketing background to create business development materials such as annual reports, newsletters and website content for companies and non-profit organizations.
My first book, Maryland Steeplechasing, was published in 2005 and is now available in stores and online.
When I’m not writing I’m outside walking with dog in tow, reading with a very fat cat in my lap, or spending time with my family. I am an above-average cook, a below average yoga-practitioner, a beginner fly fisherman and an avid traveler, having covered ground from Europe to Turkey to Mexico . My intellectual curiosity has led me to see my education as ongoing – I have spent time in England attending a summer program at Oxford University , and have attended writing and literature classes, seminars and conferences in Maryland , New York City , Chicago and Boston.
I’m always looking for new ideas and new markets, and I invite you to CONTACT ME.
