“Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass” — Anton Chekhov

The most important thing you need to know about me is this: I love words. I like their sound, their voracity and gentleness, the sway they hold in conversation, the heft of them when they are aligned into sentences that accumulate into cohesive thoughts. I first discovered that words and I had a mutual affection for each other in second grade when I wrote the very short short story, “The Stolen Diamond Mystery.” Like all good love affairs, ours has grown, evolved and matured, getting better with time.

Next, you should know that I love stories. I enjoy a good fictional yarn (writing one or reading one), but I know from experience that truth really is stranger than fiction – or sadder, or more dramatic, or more humorous. If you put a story in my hands, be it a profile of some extraordinary person, a trend taking place in business or a corporate brand, I will be its careful steward.

For the practically minded, my details are as follows: I’m a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I previously worked in a public relations and marketing agency, though I’ve been independently writing for over ten years. Occasionally I pop up on television, on radio and in classrooms speaking in an expert capacity. I've won two journalism awards, and I'm currently a student in the Johns Hopkins University Masters in Writing program.

Highlights from my published journalism credits include: Baltimore magazine, The Baltimore Sun, Better Homes & Gardens, Chesapeake Home, Christian Science Monitor, Country Life (International Edition), Fast CompanyHouse Beautiful, People, Shape, SmartCEO and The Washington Post. My first book, Maryland Steeplechasing, was published in 2005.

I call on my marketing background to manage business development projects such as annual reports, newsletters, web content and speeches for companies and nonprofit organizations. Unlike editorial writing, the client controls the message in copywriting. I will work with you to craft content that fulfills your goals with creativity and distinction.
